The Importance of Nature

First, I want to thank everyone who has subscribed to my blog!  My plans are to post every Saturday.

So, what is Nature and why is it important to us? I believe that the definition of Nature can be different for everyone. The Oxford Dictionary meaning is as follows: the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations.

Nature has different environments- forests, deserts, mountains, lakes and oceans. Nature is every animal, insect, tree, plant, flower, and gems and it is all very important!

As a society, we have gotten used to instant gratification with our phones, iPads, and computers and the web. As a kid, I remember playing outdoors all day and didn’t want to come in! My brother and I were on our bikes, making forts, or playing with matchbox cars and making roads out of rocks or twigs! I’m sure we had our share of shenanigans and got in trouble occasionally, but we had a blast! I am sharing my outdoor experiences with our grandkids and we are outside every chance we get! We- as a society tend to focus on social media and on our phones maybe a bit too much. Our heads are always in one position- down! Also, the news although very important to keep us up to date, can be depressing, concerning, confusing and troubling! I don’t know about you- but it gets my anxiety through the roof!  I recently read this quote and it is perfect! I was not able to find the author,

“10 minutes online shows us what is wrong with the world, BUT 10 minutes outside reminds us what is right.”

Nature is important for:

  1. It can be very healing- I will be touching more on this area in future blogs. Our own self- healing can be as simple as stepping outside in any place- whether it is your own home or breaks from work.

I have read that just 20 minutes of sunshine per day triggers your body to release over 200 antimicrobials that fight fungi, parasites and viruses!

  • We depend on Nature for our food, air and water!
  • It adds stability and beauty to our lives!

If anyone wants to comment and add why you think it is important- please do!

I felt drawn to write this blog to educate and assist with getting back to Nature and what you can do help Mother Earth and how Mother Earth helps you! It is the simple things that make a difference! I will be discussing more in my future blogs! Thank you for stopping by!

“WE often forget that we are Nature. Nature is not something separate from us. So, when we say that we have lost our connection to Nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.”   Andy Goldsworthy

Adopt the pace of Nature. Her secret is patience.

                                               Ralph Waldo Emerson

Until next week, Get outside!!!!!!!!
